Credits & Diplomas
When studying Spanish abroad it is important to learn the language, have a great experience, as well as then be able to use the studies in Spain to validate current studies in your home country and for future professional use. Therefore it is important that you receive a recognized certificate and that you receive credits for your studies in Spain. Below you can find further information about the certificates given and the credits available for the programs we offer at the Complutense University of Madrid.
Diplomas & Certificates
For the standard, spring, and summer courses, all students will receive the Attendance Certificate if they have participated in at least 80% of classes. If students wish, they can undertake examinations in language practices, grammar and text commentary at the end of the course. Those who pass the examinations will be awarded a Spanish Language Certificate. Students who have participated in at least 3 optional themes will, if they pass an examination, be awarded a Spanish Language and Culture Certificate.
The Hispanic Studies Course is arranged as a normal university course and there are therefore official examinations for each subject at the end of the course. Final examinations will take place in May and June.
A Hispanic Studies Diploma will be awarded to all those students who have passed five subjects (which must include "Spanish Grammar"). Students will also receive a Proficiency Certificate for each subject in which the student has been examined. Students who do not want to take the final exam or who fail will be awarded an Attendance Certificate if they have taken part regularly in the lectures.
Hispanic Studies Course
The Hispanic studies course is a full academic year course from the middle of September to the end of May and is only for students that already have a good level of Spanish and have a minimum of 3 years of college studies.
