Activities
At GSS we believe in the old saying "All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". This is why a crucial part of our programs is to provide a whole range of free time activities to make sure that you, the student, also have a great time outside the class (which isn't to say that you're not going to enjoy being in class!). We also believe that having fun is an important tool for learning, and thanks to our series of "Home" (activities in and around your base city) and "Away" (several day excursions away from your base city) activities, at the same time you're having fun, you'll be meeting Spanish and other foreign students (who will be participating in the activities alongside you) and, maybe without realising it, you'll be perfecting your Spanish skills by practicing what you have learnt in class while you get to know the Spanish youth and culture better.
We don't want to throw you in at the deep end, so, as part of the process of settling in and getting to know your surroundings a bit better, we arrange a pre-study preparation program at the beginning of your stay, no matter the university you choose. It usually consists of 2 days during which you are given guided tours of the city, also visiting attractions, restaurants, etc around the city, and during which you'll be introduced to the Spanish way of life.
Just one of the kinds of activities we arrange for your enjoyment, and as part of your learning process, are excursions to different places of interest and which are away from your base city. These excursions usually take place once a month and last between 1 and 2 days (depends on the destination), with meals, entrances and transport included. Depending on the city you study in, destinations can include: Seville, Bilbao, Valencia, Malaga, Barcelona, Granada, Tarifa in Cadiz, Morocco, Madrid, Portugal, Segovia, etc.
We also arrange a series of local activities for each program which can include visits to places in and around your base city, cultural activities such as visits to local monuments and museums, Flamenco dancing, language exchange, visits to amusement and water parks, trips to the theatre or cinema, night tours to popular pubs, restaurants, discos and other places of interest relating to the local nightlife, sporting activities, etc. These are an excellent opportunity to enjoy and get to know the local area while, as always, getting to know the Spanish youth and culture.
