Below are our terms and conditions, please read them carefully.
1. Refunds and Changes
GSS will Refund:
- 100% of payments received minus a 500€ administration fee when cancelling more than 4 weeks before arrival date.
- 60% of payments received when cancelling less than 4 weeks before the arrival date.
- There is no refund for cancellations made after the arrival date.
All Accommodation changes (i.e. type of accommodation, where and when) are free of charge when communicated to GSS up to 4 weeks before the arrival date. Thereafter, changes are subject to availability, with a 50€ administration fee being applicable.
2. Deposit
When booking your program through GSS, we require a deposit of 500Eur to secure a place in any of our programs. This is refundable according to the terms specified by our refund policy.
3. Accommodation
3.1 Shared Flats.
- Deposit: Certain flats may require a refundable deposit of between 200€ and 500€. This deposit will be reimbursed after handing in the keys, and once the accommodation has been inspected for damages and is found to be in a fit and clean state, ready for future occupants.
- Water & Electricity: Water and electricity usage is included in the price.
- Community charges: Is included in the price.
- Gas: As many flats in Spain work with gas bottles, having to be ordered and paid for as and when required, any bottles required after occupying the accommodation must be paid for by the students. On average this should cost about 5-8 euros per person per month.
- Telephone & Internet: It is not usual for there to be a fixed line installed in shared flats as landlords do not want to be economically responsible for calls made by their tenants. GSS does however provide students on its programs with a mobile phone to make and receive calls as well as a number of international phone cards. Students, after requesting permission, are normally allowed to install a fixed telephone line in the flat, the cost of which must be paid for by individual or participating students. This would also allow for an internet connection to be installed, the cost of which would again be the responsibility of the student or students involved.
- Laundry: Most flats will have a washing machine that can be freely used, but in the few cases where this may not be so; there will be a common washing area for the block where each user pays for their washes.
- Minor maintenance: Students are responsible for minor maintenance of the flat such as changing light bulbs or replacing gas bottles.
3.2 Own Flat or Studio
- -Water & Electricity: Water and electricity usage is included in the price.
- Community charges: Unless otherwise clearly stated, this is included in the price.
- Gas: As many flats in Spain work with gas bottles, having to be ordered and paid for as and when required, any bottles required after occupying the accommodation must be paid for by the students. On average this should cost about 5-8 euros per person per month.
- Telephone: Although possible, it is not certain for there to be a fixed line installed in a flat or studio as landlords do not want to be economically responsible for calls made by their tenants. GSS does however provide students on its programs with a mobile phone to make and receive calls as well as a number of international phone cards.

3.3 Host Families
- Water, Electricity & Gas: Water, electricity and gas usage is included in the. As water resources are not unlimited in Spain, only one shower is permitted per day.
- Board: Full board includes a minimum of 3 meals a day.
- Telephone: Students will be allowed to receive calls on the family phone but not to make them as the hosts do not want to be economically responsible for calls made by their guests. GSS does however provide students on its programs with a mobile phone to make and receive calls as well as a number of international phone cards.
- Laundry: Including laundry once a week.
- Unreasonable costs: Any costs incurred that are considered to be beyond reasonable will have to be covered by the student, being deducted from the deposit if necessary.
3.4 Residence
- Deposit: The residence may require a refundable deposit of between 200€ and 500€. This deposit will be reimbursed after handing in the keys, and once your room has been inspected for damages.
- Water & Electricity, Gas and Community charges are included in the price.
- Community charges: Is included in the price.
- Telephone & Internet: All the residences have free internet connexion and in some cases also a payphone.
- Laundry & Cleaning: The residences normally offer supplementary laundry and cleaning service.
3.5 General rules of accommodation
- Visits: Short-term visits are generally allowed but, to avoid any conflict with the landlord, will require prior permission from GSS.
- Damages: The landlord reserves the right to charge for cleaning or the repair of any damages if the accommodation is not left in the same condition as it was on arrival.
- Departure date: The accommodation must be vacated by the time and date specified at the moment of booking, unless otherwise specified by a further agreement with GSS. GSS reserves the right to charge for any infringement of this rule.
- Duration of stay: It is possible to book accommodation for durations longer than that of your studies, arriving earlier and/or leaving later than the program and/or course dates. Should availability mean this is not possible, you will be informed by GSS after receipt of your registration.
4. General rules
- Late fee: All registrations received within 4 weeks of the starting date are subject to a late fee of 200Eur due to the increased cost of finding accommodation on short notice.
- Holidays: Classes cancelled due to local, national or bank holidays will normally not be made up by additional classes. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of each university.
5. Disclaimer of Liability
GSS works as an independent agent and cannot be held liable for any damage occurred to you during your stay and your travel to and from Spain.
