Convento de San Esteban is a monastery of the Order of the Dominicans, in the city of Salamanca. It contains a church, which the construction dates back to the year 1524 and was finished in 1610. The exterior of the buildings are covered in amazing sculpture work in the Gothic style and the sculptures on the main panel represent the martyrdom of San Esteban. They were painted by Claudio Coello. Inside the church, you can find some beautiful altars and the tomb of the Duke of Alba (the governor of Spanish Netherlands). Although the building looks Gothic from the outside, the interior is mainly in Plateresque and Baroque style. Besides the altars and the tomb, the complex also contains three cloisters including the magnificent Royal Cloister.
