Activities in Salamanca
In Salamanca, just like in the rest of the cities where GSS offers its programs, free time activities are a very important part of the program. We offer an interesting mix of activities in Salamanca as well as excursions away, and apart from getting to know the Spanish culture and way of life, the idea with these activities is to have a great time and make new friends – both foreign and Spanish.
Our long term programs begin with a 4 day pre-study preparation program aimed at helping our students culturally adapt and also to get to know Salamanca better. For our short term programs, a compact 2 day program is arranged before starting the Spanish course.
Below you can find further information about the different types of activities arranged as well as examples of popular events.
Excursions
Approximately once per month we arrange an excursion away from Salamanca; this takes place during weekends as well as local and national holidays. On these excursions, there will normally be Spanish students participating as well, which is a great way to practice what you have learned during classes as well as make international friends.
The excursions will normally be to places of interest, including destinations such as Madrid (the capital of Spain), the interesting neighboring country of Portugal, Segovia (a town with incredible monuments and very good food) and activities such as ski weeks and other excursions within the province. The full program is announced about a month before taking place. All trips include hotel, transport and guides as well as a full program at the destination.
Local Activities
Apart from the excursions, we also arrange a number of local activities in Salamanca, including cultural events, sports activities and dinner parties.
The events are arranged to make sure that our students are having a good time in Spain as well as a way to meet other students, both Spanish and foreign.
Below you can find examples of events we arrange.

- Visits to local theatres and cinemas.
- Guided night tours to some of the most popular restaurants, pubs and discotheques in Salamanca.
