Credits at Salamanca University

When studying Spanish abroad, it is important to learn the language, have a great experience, as well as then being able to use the studies in Spain to validate current studies in your home country and for future professional use.

At GSS we will support you through the credit application process as we know it is important that you receive a recognised certificate and that you receive credits for your studies in Spain. Below you can find further information about the certificates given and the credits that are available for the programs we offer at Salamanca University.

Diplomas & Certificates

All students that take part in one of the Spanish programs arranged at Salamanca University and who participate in at least 90% of classes will receive a certificate of attendance which states the number of classes taken and the type of course.
Apart from the certificate, it is also possible to take a final exam; students that pass this exam will receive a diploma stating the final mark received.

Credits

Apart from the diploma and certificates provided by Salamanca University, it is also possible to receive US credits for your studies in Spain. To obtain credits, the first thing you will have to do is to contact your study abroad office at your university in order to obtain complete information on how to obtain credits from your studies abroad as this is done differently from university to university. If required, Salamanca University will send the transcript directly to your university when you have finished the course.

Below you can find an approx. guide of the US and European credits that you can obtain from each course.

  • Trimester Standard Course. In the trimester course you will have approx 250 class hours per trimester; this is equivalent to 17 US semester credits and 25 European credits.
  • Monthly Intensive Course. For this 4 week course you will have approx. 100 classes which is equal to 6 US semester credits and 10 European credits.
  • Summer Course. During the monthly summer course you will have about 100 classes which is equal to 6 US semester credits and 10 European credits.
