The Summer Course at Salamanca University
The structure of the course is almost like the intensive monthly courses, with 100 class hours per month and 4 different main levels ranging from complete beginners to advanced speakers. The main difference between this course and the intensive monthly course are the special activities arranged by the university (like guitar classes or Flamenco dancing classes) and the different optional subjects available.
The intensive monthly courses follow this structure:
- During the first two classes, and irrespective of level, time is spent on Spanish language and grammar.
- The third hour, and in the case of beginners, is for broadening vocabulary and basic conversation skills; instead of this, the higher levels use it for communicative practice, history of contemporary Spain, Spanish for business, commentary on literary texts and translation from: German, French, English, Italian, Japanese or Portuguese to Spanish.
- For the fourth hour, students at the lower levels will be practicing in the language laboratory and with basic communication activities; students at the higher levels can select between the following subjects: global communicative practice, practice of oral skills, history of Spanish art, Spanish literature or economy and society in present day Spain.
- For the fifth hour, students at the lower levels will again be practicing vocabulary and communication skills, whereas student at the higher levels can select between the following subjects: Spanish culture or practice of written skills.
